După ce săptămâna trecută a fost observată relaxându-se pe plaja din Saint Tropez, Tina Turner a participat în acest weekend la aniversarea lui Flavio Briatore, în Porto Cervo, Italia.

Sunt fericit să vă informez că piesa “The Best” a ajuns pe locul 1 în topul iTunes din Scoţia şi a pătruns până pe locul 9 în topul oficial iTunes din Marea Britanie.

After a week of intense promotion, the moment of truth is here:  the announcement of the official charts.

I’m happy to inform you that “The Best” has reached number 1 in the iTunes Charts from Scotland and has entered top 10, in the 9th position, in the Official iTunes Charts from Great Britain.

The domination of Tina’s track was more obvious in the charts of the other online stores: #1 on amazon.com, in the general and pop music charts, #1 on hmv.com, #1 on play.co.uk.

With these results, the Tina and Glasgow Rangers fans have set a new record: Tina Turner is the female artist with the longest span in the British charts. Her first song entered Top 20 on 18 June 1966, almost 44 years ago !

Cea de-a treia zi a campaniei “The Best” a marcat un moment important al acţiunii noastre: pătrunderea în mass-media britanică. Luaţi prin surprindere de ascensiunea spectaculoasă a melodiei în topuri, numeroase publicaţii şi posturi de radio şi-au informat cititorii/ascultătorii despre fenomenul care are loc pe internet.

The third day of the campaign marked an important moment of our action: reaching the British media. Taken by surprise by the spectacular climb in the charts, various publications and radio stations have informed their readers/listeners about the phenomenon that takes place online.

James Farley, the initiator of the Facebook group, has had a live interview on a radio talk-show. “The Big Top 40 Show“, the radio show from the middle of the week that announces the partial charts, has noticed that “The Best” is the new-entry with the most rapid ascension. Other articles have appeared in newspapers such as Daily Record and Metro. According to British fans, “The Best” is back on British radio airplays and continues to attract new suporters.

The results can be seen on the downloading sites as well. On Amazon, “The Best” has kept its position in the pop category and has climbed two places in the general charts, up to the second place. The song has another two presences in Top 20, from different Tina albums (general 11,16; pop 8,12)

După cum promiteam, am revenit cu un update la campania desfăşurată pe parcursul acestei săptămâni în Marea Britanie. Astfel, după 48 de ore de la începerea acţiunii, “The Best” are un parcurs ascendent în topurile de pe toate site-urile. Dacă pe portalul Amazon melodia a reuşit să-şi consolideze poziţia în top 5, în topul iTunes a ajuns în primele 15 melodii iar pe site-ul hmv digital a obţinut cea mai mare performanţă: locul 1 !

Ţinând cont că în primele 20 de poziţii ale topului Amazon melodia “The Best” are trei prezenţe, fiind descărcată de pe trei albume diferite, e de aşteptat ca la sfârşitul săptămânii oficialii site-ului să cumuleze descărcările (dat fiind că e vorba de aceeaşi melodie). În acest mod, Tina Turner are şanse reale de a obţine prima poziţie !

As I promissed, I’ve come back with an update to the campaign that takes place this week in Great Britain. After 48 hours, “The Best” has an ascending evolution in the charts on all the sites. Therefore, if on the Amazon portal the song has managed to consolidate its position in the top 5, in the iTunes charts it is placed amongst the first 15 songs and on the hmv digital website it has achieved the greatest performance: Number 1 !

Due to the fact that in the first 20 positions of the Amazon charts “The Best” can be found in three places, being downloaded from three different albums, it is expected that at the end of the week, the downloads will be cumulated (because it’s the same song). This way, Tina Turner has real chances to reach number one !

Fanii Tinei Turner plănuiesc o nouă campanie, de data aceasta alături de fanii formaţiei de fotbal Glasgow Rangers.

La iniţiativa unui fan scoţian de pe Facebook, se doreşte realizarea unei acţiuni prin care melodia “Simply The Best” să ajungă pe locul întâi în topurile din Marea Britanie.

Motivul iubitorilor de fotbal e unul simplu: “The Best” e cântecul neoficial al clubului Glasgow Rangers, e cântat de galeria scoţiană la fiecare început de meci, iar în săptămâna 19-26 aprilie, când campionatul de fotbal din Scoţia se va încheia, prezenţa melodiei pe primul loc în topuri ar fi un mod inedit de încurajare a echipei.

Tina Turner fans plan another campaign, this time alongside the Glasgow Rangers fans.

At the initiative of a Scottish fan from Facebook, an action has been organized to make “Simply The Best” climb to Number One in the Great Britain charts.

The motive of the footbal fans is simple: “The Best” is the unofficial song of the Glasgow Rangers club, it is being sung by the Scottish gallery at every beginning of a match, and in the week of 19-26 of April, when the Scottish footbal championship will end, the presence of the song in the first position of the charts will be an ecouragement for their team.

The spanish newspaper “El Mundo” has made an interview with Tina Turner, at the Armani Fashion Show, last week. The most interesting part of the interview referrs to the possibility of a new world tour. Tina says that she has to decide quickly in this matter and that she would prefer the smaller venues. I don’t think she’s targeting Las Vegas shows, like many of the fans were assuming in the last days, because, if she comes back, Tina will do it only to see her fans and not for money (Vegas). So, if she’s preparing us something, we will not have to wait so much.

Veteran pop star Tina Turner may yet call her troupe of dancers out for another world tour, though for the moment she prefers home-cooked dinners and a stress-free life.

Sitting in the front row at the Giorgio Armani Prive fashion show in Paris on Monday, the 70-year-old looked radiant in a sparkling black top that revealed ample cleavage, her trademark mass of curls piled up high.

“People wanted to see me, so many were holding signs up saying, Thank You,” she said of her 2008 tour, which grossed $47.7 million. [note: this is the gross only from 2008, from the American leg of the tour]

“I haven’t made a decision yet,” she told Reuters when asked if she would stage another tour. “I didn’t make a plan for a big tour, with big stadiums. I’m not saying I won’t do it, get the girls out and do something, but I haven’t decided.”

Turner has for decades been one of the world’s most successful performers, roaring out hits like “Simply The Best” and “What’s Love Got To Do With It” in stage-stomping, high-octane concerts.

“My favourites are short skirts that work for heavy dancing,” she said. “I have a short torso, and it looks better with a short skirt.”

And even if another exhausting round of concerts is not imminent, waiting fans may console themselves with the prospect of a new album.

“Recording is something that’s always easier than touring. I wouldn’t mind, but nothing’s come my way right now and that’s fine,” Turner said with a smile.

Unfazed by the scrum of photographers around her, she said while she loved performing in public, she could see the advantages of a more quiet life.

“I have dinner parties, I can go to parties, there’s more freedom when you’re not working,” she said. “I’m just enjoying life.”
